Week in Review: All the Lasts

May 07, 2018

Forgive me for skipping out on the weekly reviews lately. I've been taking in the last weeks of classes and consequently have become overly sentimental. It's finally hitting me that I'm graduating. That I will never be in this same place with the same people ever again. To make up for the lack of WIRs, here's another recap of the past three weeks!!

  • Visited the OBGYN..
  • ....where i may or may not have almost passed out after getting blood drawn 😶
  • Faced my fear and watched a scary movie: A Quiet Place; not as bad as I thought it'd be!
  • Also saw The Greatest Showman with my friend.
  • Made this super dee duper easy vegan cobbler served with strawberry ice cream for additional deliciousness.

  • Met with the dietician I've been working with for 3 years--since the beginning of my recovery--for the final time. Definitely bittersweet but it was nice to reflect on how far I've come since then.
  • Because of that, also reached out to new ones and actually already saw one last week.
  • Took my last tests on this campus! WHAAAT??!!? 😩
  • Prepped my stuff for graduation this week, gown and all.
  • After years, finally went to the eye doctor again!
  • Got a haircut a week ago. Still don't know how I feel about it; wish it were an inch or so longer as it's not sitting the way I want it to.
  • Had the pleasure of seeing Les Miserables live! As one of if not the first musicals I listened to, it was absolutely breathtaking.
  • Watched the new Avengers movie. No spoilers from me I promise!! Though in case you need a refresher on the past 18 movies, check out this informative and interactive article

  • Baked and distributed chocolate chip coconut cookies for my teachers as a token of my appreciation.
  • Had last days of classes as well as the last shift as a tutor, where my last tutee gave me a brownie! What a nice end to things.
  • Finished three books!
  • Enjoyed the remainder of the time on campus by eating meals or studying at my usual spots, walking more slowly, and taking pictures.
  • Posted on ze blog two times with my April food post and random thoughts on how i'm feeling about life at the moment if you'd like to give 'em a read.
  • Actually took my 3rd (of 4!) CPA exams just this morning. And now it's time for a power nap before getting back to it. 😴

Questions:
How do you do with needles?
Any good movies you've seen recently?
Do you consider yourself a sentimental person?

  1. Ho boy ending your time at a school/campus is huge. Such massive memories are made here; such growth. Not easy to let go of, but there always comes the time when it must be done. I'm glad you took these last weeks to really take in the places and things you loved so much, and to show your appreciation where you wanted to. That always really made the change - not easier - but more fulfilling for me. Like, the right closure.

Amazing job finding a new dietician already. That is motivation and inspiration right there.

I just made a blueberry crisp last night after craving one for sooooo long. It was SO good. I've pinned that cobbler recipe for next time.

    1. It's crazy to think this chapter is closing. But trying to stay grateful for what it gave me rather than sulk in what I'm leaving behind if that makes sense.

      Berry season for the win!

  3. I've not been much in the WIR game either and I'm the host. Ha! You enjoy your last days on campus and as a student. The WIR will be here whenever you are ready. Also, brownies are definitely a lovely note to end things on, especially when they're chocolate. I saw Les Mis once eons ago and it was magical. I'm glad you got to experience it too. :)
