Week in Review: Moving Out

July 30, 2018

It's hard to for me to believe that it's already been a week my last Week in Review. This past week has been primarily focused on moving out of my apartment, packing my life into bins and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. It's been a couple of years since I've had to move so throughout it all I keep having to ask myself why and how do I own so much stuff?!! Seriously, someone needs to Marie Kondo my life. Read on to figure out what else has been going on. Thanks as usual to Meghan for being such a gracious link-up host.

  • Enjoying some Thai food while coincidentally watching the latest Bachelorette, which took place in Thailand for the week. You can't say that that's not meant to be...
  • Finished season 1 of the Good Place! If you need a light and fluffy show, be sure to check it out!
  • As mentioned above, packed and after a handful of car loads to my parents house, I'm about a full kitchen clean and one final car load away from moving out.
  • Finally got June's eats up on the blog
  • Also watched Love Never Dies, the sequel musical to Phantom of the Opera. I'm embarrassed to say I haven't actually watched the original.

  • If it isn't already evidenced by the Thai food above, definitely missed all the spicy foods while I was away. So this bowl that I threw together hit the spot. Steamed sweet potato with black beans, green salsa, corn and cauliflower.
  • Went for a swim for the first (and last time) at my apartment complex. I forget how much I love the water until I'm actually in there. T'was lovely.
  • Started a 1000 piece puzzle for funzies. Far from finished. Stay tuned for updates!
  • Booked a reservation for Dallas' restaurant week towards the middle of August.
  • Went shoe shopping Saturday afternoon with my friend--the bride--and fellow bridesmaids for her wedding that's happening in under 3 weeks! Such an exciting month ahead.
  • Then hit the outlet mall for shopping for more clothes to fill my work wardrobe. Snagged some pretty good deals including this navy blue coat which I am completely in love with.

Questions:
What's your favorite Thai dish?
Have you gone for a swim yet this summer season?
Would you rather go shopping for clothes or for shoes?

  1. The coat is darling.

One of my favorite things about moving is the getting everything all organized and clean. It appeals to my type A personality.

    Hooray for Thai food.

  2. There's a sequel to Phantom of the Opera? No kidding! Personally, I don't think you're missing much by not watching the original...but then again, there are a lot of folks out there who would strongly disagree with me.
Your new coat is gorgeous! Great find!

    1. Oh, I definitely agree with you... The sequel was not quite my type of musical to say the least.

  3. Your Thai food looks soooo yummy. We just had Thai last night with my son, daughter-in-law, grandson and hubby. I had spicy green curry with tofu. Delicious! I added some steamed veggies for extra punch and color, and now have enough leftovers for a week!

  4. There's a sequel to Phantom!?? I've also never heard of the Good Place - but AM in need of a nice light show to get into. So thank you! Look how much I've already learned from this post..

Love the coat. And as messy and crazy as packing is, moving is also so exciting, I find. You can be as messy as you want for that limited time, and then you get that wonderful feeling of starting fresh somewhere. Nice and organized and purged. Marie Kondo was such a godsend to me in my last move. My advice from her - continually ask yourself, "does this spark joy?"

    1. Definitely excited to get all organized. And I love decorating rooms so shopping for the new apartment should be fun!
I've been trying to be truly mindful of what I'm keeping, trying to get to the root of how the object has served me and if I still need it to.
